General Operation of an Easee Charging Point

Order of Badges and Cable Connection:

  • Start session: Connect the cable to your vehicle, then to the Easee charging point, and swipe the badge.
  • End session: Swipe the badge to stop, remove the cable from your vehicle, then from the Easee charging point.

Meaning of Light Strip Colors:

  • Light at the bottom of the light strip = Stand-by
  • White – continuous light = Vehicle connected
  • White – pulsating light = Charging in progress
  • White – flashing light = Waiting for authentication
  • White – rapidly flashing light = RFID key tag received (waiting for key tag verification in the backend system)
  • Blue – continuous light = Smart Charge activated (vehicle connected)
  • Blue – pulsating light = Smart Charge in progress

The light strip remains continuously red.

There are three reasons for the light strip on a charger to stay constantly red:

  1. Grounding fault in the cable or vehicle.
  2. The vehicle is reacting negatively to something in the power network (which could be in a neighbor’s house).
  3. The charger has detected other abnormalities.

To reset the charger, you need to disconnect the charging cable from the charger. If the constant red light persists, you can contact the charging station administrator or Stroohm.

The charging cable is stuck, what should I do?

There are three different reasons why your cable might be stuck.

  • Someone has attempted to pull the cable out while it’s locked, causing tension between the locking arm and the cable. In this case, the charger card indicates that the cable is locked but it’s not blue.
  • The charging cable connector tolerance and material type can cause issues.
  • The charger is offline due to connection problems.

Solution:

  1. Push the charging cable firmly into the charging box.
  2. While pushing the cable in, press the touch button on the charger (just above the LED strip). This should allow the cable locking mechanism to move freely upward, unlocking the cable from the charger. You will hear the locking arm move.
  3. Pull the cable firmly out of the charger.
